Ray Martin's Favourites: The Stories Behind the Legends by Ray Martin

Ray's Favourite People is a book that brings together the most remarkable people Ray Martin met during his own hugely successful career in journalism. This is a book that offers Ray's legion of fans insight into some extraordinary people – from celebrities to ordinary folks, all with stories to tell.

The book is a collection of interviews in which Ray's introductions give readers privileged access to the "back stories", the foibles of the famous, the chase to get these interviews, the settings, and more. It's a book that gives the curious gossip from inside the world of television but it is also a book that celebrates the art of the interview as conducted by a master interviewer.

Interviewees include Sophia Loren, Lowitja O'Donoghue, Don Bradman (last interview before his death), Audrey Hepburn, Fred Hollows, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Harry Kewell – a real mix of old and new, Australian and international.

About The Author

Ray Martin began his career working for ABC radio in Sydney in 1965. After ten years in New York as a correspondent for the ABC's North American, he moved back to Australia to launch 60 Minutes with George Negus and Ian Leslie. As host of The Midday Show, he won five Gold Logies, more than twenty Silver Logies and a handful of People's Choice awards. In 1994 he left The Midday Show for the first of two stints as host of A Current Affair before hosting The Ray Martin Show.
